III.) Leaderboard Prizes

Give OUT Day leaderboards are designed as a way to bring an element of competition to this 24-hour giving day. "Giving days" across the country have shown that such prizes give organizations excellent tools for activating board members, volunteers, and donors to participate.

  • It is each organization's responsibility to ensure accurate placement on national, regional, or specialized leaderboards by filling out the Participant Survey and verifying accurate placement when notified by Horizons Foundation.

  • Leaderboard prizes are subject to verification by Horizons Foundation staff. Winners will be announced and notified within 5 business days after Give OUT Day. Your organization should not assume leaderboard placements as of 11:59 pm EST on Give OUT Day are final until notified by Horizons Foundation.

  • Prizes for all leaderboards will be awarded to the organizations that receive donations from the most unique donors.

  • A unique donor is a single individual who is making a gift (i.e. Jane Doe). Unique donors are identified by their First Name, Last name, and unique email addresses entered at the time of the donation transactions. If a donor gives to the same nonprofit multiple times, you will be counted as a unique donor only for the first donation transaction. If you plan to donate to multiple organizations, you will be counted as unique for only the first donation to each organization page based on the entered email address.

  • Anonymous donations with no identifying name and email address will not count toward the unique donor total. This means if your organization hosts a live event or input donations directly in the Click & Pledge system, you must collect first name, last name, and an email address for each donation to count toward your unique donor total.

  • If the Give OUT Day organizers discover that an individual makes multiple gifts to the same organization using different email addresses, all but the first donation will be excluded from the total unique donor tally.

  • A person can be a unique donor to multiple organizations (meaning that if Jane Doe made a gift to group A and a gift to group B, she would count as a unique donor for each group).

  • >In the spirit of Give OUT Day, to get much-needed funds to as many organizations as possible, organizations are eligible to win only 1 Give OUT Day leaderboard prize. In the event that an organization comes in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd on more than one leaderboard, they will be awarded the prize with the highest value and the organization with the next highest number of unique donors will take the lesser value prize.

  • In the event of a tie, the two tying organizations will split the prize they tied for combined with the next prize below.

    • If there is a tie for 1st place on any leaderboard, we will combine the 1st and 2nd place prizes and split the award to the tied organizations. The 2nd place winner will then take the 3rd  place prize.

    • If there is a tie for 2nd place on any leaderboard, we will combine the 2nd and 3rd place prizes and split the award to the tied organizations. There will then be no 3rd  place winner.

    • If there is a tie for 3rd place, the tied organizations will split the 3rd place prize.

  • Organizations cannot share prizes by joining together for purposes of Give OUT Day (e.g., registering for Give OUT DAY as one organization even though each one is a separate non-profit or standalone program). Each organization must participate on its own for any leaderboard prize. While Horizons understands and generally supports collaboration among organizations, this doesn’t fit with the spirit of the giving day and is not fair to organizations participating on their own. Organizations that are found to be in violation will be disqualified from leaderboard prizes.

  • For nonprofits that are fiscally sponsored or subsidiary programs of larger organizations, organizational budget will be based on the sponsoree/program's own budget, not that of the sponsoring organization.

  • Leaderboards will be displayed on the Give OUT Day website. Leaderboards will display the top groups live on the Give OUT Day homepage throughout the day and will be continuously updated. The scheduled donations will begin showing on the Give OUT Day website after 3:00 am EDT. You will be able to monitor your organization's donations through your Click & Pledge account. Final results will be tabulated after the close of the day at 11:59 pm EDT on 04.18.2019.

  • Any prizes you win will be paid out by Horizons Foundation or by the sponsoring organizations for a particular leaderboard by check after all prize results are certified by Click & Pledge.

  • Horizons Foundation, in consultation with our leaderboard sponsors, can modify any restrictions or conditions if, in the sole judgment of the organization’s Board of Directors, such restriction or condition becomes unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment or inconsistent with the charitable purpose of the day. As such, Horizons Foundation reserves the right to deny or condition the distribution of prize grants if, in the judgment of its Board of Directors, such restriction or condition becomes necessary.
