I joined the board of Oasis Legal Services last year because their work is close to my heart.
I am an immigrant and a lesbian. I came to the United States at age 14 when I was already questioning my sexual orientation. Being here means that I am guaranteed some basic human rights. I don’t fear for my life.
In El Salvador, the LGBTQ community continues to face discrimination and violence. Hate crimes go unresolved, and impunity protects those who inflict harm to members of the LGBTQ community.
When Oasis’ legal team wins an asylum case for a LGBTQ immigrant, a life is saved and a person gains the ability to be who they are free of discrimination. The work of Oasis is more crucial than ever.
Please donate $10 to this important work. Mark your online donation to be paid on 4/18/19 when the GIVE OUT Day campaign takes place.
Muchas gracias, Rhina
